Anyone feel the need to be MOD? | Sun Apr 18, 2010 6:14 pm by meanwood_monks | Been thinking about this for a while now.
Some of you guys/gals have been here since day 1. Cheers for all your support over this time.
Was wondering if anyone was wanting to keep an eye on things and have MOD rights here.

| Here's a new one. Not ever seen anything from here before...The Batley Carr tunnel. At 179 yards, Batley Carr tunnel, Dewsbury is fairly short, and has been closed to all traffic since 1965. It opened in 1880 and was one of three routes the express trains from Kings Cross to Bradford took. Today, the southern portal is all that is left; the northern one disappeared and the tunnel partly backfilled. Access to the tunnel is through a breakers yard. For half of the tunnel, the floor has been raised by a couple of metres and levelled off. Slightly dodgy pictures as I only had 10 minutes... The tunnel has been walled up just beyond the open airshaft, although tiny gaps can be seen around the edge. Todays regret was not trying to see beyond the wall. View of the open air shaft. The peppermill air shaft, from above. Leaving, 10 minutes later. | |

| Interesting place. I'd love to see how much more is past the wall. I'd have been tempted by all those rusting cars. What you done to that last picture? The sky doesn't match the yard. | |

| Excellent pics of the place. Nice one. I love this one Rich, it looks like it could be used for a poster or CD cover. - Quote :

| Thanks very much. I wish I had looked behind the wall, but only had ten minutes. It took me a lot of pursuading to get the owner to let me take the pictures, and I said I was only taking the portal. It was only when I got home I realised how dangerous the top looking cage was. The last picture I just did that thing where you make the sky go darker at the top, can't think what it is called. It would probably be a good one to do that HDR, but I know I won't. I like dicking around with non important pictures! | |
